Study tour to Transylvania
Spend ten days discovering the Black Church, Ottoman rugs and carpets, post-Byzantine textiles, Romanian folk kelims and Tuducs: the specialist magazine Carpet Collector has partnered with author Stefano Ionescu (“Antique Ottoman Rugs in Transylvania”) to organise a study tour to Transylvania and Bukovina. Every true rug enthusiast should be sure to clear their calendar from 5 to 14 June 2015.
Romania is definitely worth visiting. The rug and carpet collection at the Black Church in Braşov with its important Ottoman rugs has an international reputation. Theodor Tudoc, the most famous rug forger in the world, was also from here. Numerous other important collections of Ottoman rugs and carpets and Romanian flat-weaves can be found here in the heart of Europe. This study tour in an air-conditioned private bus will take participants to the country’s most important collections, museums and cultural sights. What’s more, proven expert Stefano Ionescu will be coming along as the permanent guide.
The trip will cost EUR 2,079.00 per person (subscribers of Carpet Collector are entitled to a 10% discount off this price). A single room surcharge of EUR 250.00 applies where applicable. The trip includes overnight accommodation in 4- and 5-star hotels, meals and drinks as well as admission fees. The price does not include personal travel arrangements to and from the tour.
